Strong Women: No. 1 - Alicia Keys

In a world where magazines find fault; circleing celulite and sweat mark on celebrity pages, I thought I'd celebrate some strong, intelligent and talented women. They are of course beautiful and pretty but not just on the outside. Heres the first...Alisha Keys; singer, song writer, pianist, producer, writer, philanthropist etc has won numerous awards sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide. Whenever I see her on TV she is singing live, plying the piano and looking fabulous. She is a staunch supporter of 'Keep a Child Alive' the charity which is dedicated to providing life saving support to children and families whose lives have been affected by AIDS.

I'm sure there is loads of negative stuff that is be said about her sometimes questionable dress sense and she could be a massive diva. However, this is not the place, this it where I can celebrate things, and in my humble opinion I think, Alicia Keys is a great role model for women everywhere.

Manscara?.... guyliner?... I'm not sure but I like it.

Today I am going to talk about the eyes of actor Nestor Carbonell; along with Richard in Lost and other notable roles, he also played the mayor in Batman the Dark Night.

My brother, his wife and I have a tradition which was brought about by my lack of Sky. Around about once a month I go round to their house to get up to date with Lost, which they tape for me. While we are watching I stuff my face with the delicious food they cook (last time it was brunch with all the usual trimmings and amazing potato pancakes, proper coffe with loads of foamed milk and a selection of juices).

Anyway enough of the preamble, the discussion that my brother and I have about how much make-up he wears happens nearly every time he appears in an episode. My brother Joe is on the side of both manscara and guyliner, I think none - it is just a natural beauty, that puts him on my list, even though he is not my usual type!

Rabit Chic - Fifi Lapin

Fifi Lapin is 'the world’s most stylish bunny' according to Elle magazine, and I would have to agree! A friend of mine pointed me in her direction and now I can't get enough.

I’ve got one of her Sonia Rykiel prints in my bedroom, the colour pallet is so soft and warm with contrasting flashes of bright colour, and every time I look at my print it makes me smile.

I can’t wait for the shop to re-open so I can get my next fix - I love love love her!

Hair Necessities - Lady Gaga V's Helene Berman

I love the fact that Lady Gaga pushes the boundaries of fashion and really goes to extremes with her outfits. However, if I rocked up to my best friends wedding with diet coke cans in my hair I don’t think I’d appear in the official pictures!

However, this pretty fascinator by Helene Berman is much more my style. Available from Asos for £70 it is a little pricy but the on-trend nude will really mark my fashion credentials out from the crowd!
